Buster in 4K

November 23, 2017

It was over 40 years ago that I first discovered Buster Keaton--my parents took me to Village Inn Pizza in Durham, NC (sometime in 1975 or 1976) where they projected Super 8mm movies on the wall to entertain patrons while they waited.  It was there that I saw "One Week" and my life was transformed forever.  Earlier this summer I heard that the fine folks at Eureka's Masters of Cinema were putting out a Blu-Ray box set of several Buster Keaton films in glorious new 4k transfers.  Due to rights issues, the Kino Lorber Blu Rays are now out of print, meaning the audio commentary I recorded for Sherlock Jr. is no longer available.  Well, doesn't that sound like a solution waiting for a problem?  So, yes, if you rush out today and buy the Masters of Cinema Buster Keaton Collection you not only get eye-popping new editions of The General, Sherlock Jr., and Steamboat Bill Jr., but you get to hear me yammer all the way through Sherlock Jr!  It's a win-win!
