Do you have an unhappy DVD?

Regarding defective copies of The Edgar G. Ulmer: Archive DVD set
There is a defect with the new 3-disc ARCHIVE set. It affects all copies on all players, so don't try to return the disc to where you bought it. The problem is this: Strange Illusion (side 2 of disc 1) goes out of synch. Only this title is affected. We repressed the disc, so new copies purchased after February 1 2006 should be good, but for now anyone who has a defective set should email me their address and I will send a corrected copy of Strange Illusion ONLY (keep the original disc because side 1 is still good). You also may return defective sets to Image Entertainment directly for a full fixed replacement if you prefer.
Regarding defective copies of The 1000 Eyes of Dr Mabuse

One of the pressings of Fritz Lang's "The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse" is defective, in a rather extraordinary way. As you can see from the screenshots at left, the bad disc is playing along nicely until roughly 18 minutes in, when Mabuse gives way to other programming--a soccer video, then a Bollywood musical.

Unless this bizarre defect is something you want, you'll want to make sure you buy a good copy. Here's how:

The first run, which included no "top spine" sticker, is fine. There are many of these still on store shelves and all are good. The "top spine" in case you don't know is that hateful little sticker that adheres to the top of the box holding it shut even when you have the shrinkwrap off.

The second run, the defective pressing, has a top spine sticker that lists All Day Entertainment and the title "The 1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse." Avoid this one.

All subsequent pressings, which are good, have a top spine sticker that says "Corrected" on it.

So, to recap--either buy one without a sticker or one with a sticker that says "corrected." If you end up with a defective one, return it to where you bought it or return it directly to us for a free replacement.
